In January 2025, five of the 7 Works Collective artists invited to Pouch Cove, Newfoundland for a group artists' residency for one month.
Since its founding in 1990 by James Baird, The Pouch Cove Foundation (incorporated in 1997) has provided a retreat for more than one thousand visiting artists from around the world, at its facilities on the Northern Avalon Peninsula in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 2025 is the programs final year. The 7 Works Collective were honoured to be offered a place in January 2025 and five of the collective members were able to accept this rare opportunity to spend a full month in this creative space. The PCF provides a fully equipped live/work space for a calendar month in exchange for the donation of a work of art. Pouch Cove was settled in the 1800’s, it is a small town of 1,500 people located on the east coast of Newfoundland, twenty kilometres north of St. John’s. Originally a fishing community it is now principally a dormitory town for people working in the city and home to a large retirement population. The Town's motto is “First to see the sun”. |
