Our next collaborative project is from Catherine Gutsche. Catherine is inspired by her surroundings whether it be nature or man made. In this image that Catherine captured while at a workshop in Hudson, NY she took a photo of this inspirational wall. It combines' Catherine's love of nature along side of a man made "palimpsest".
Palimpsest is defined as something reused or altered but still bearing the traces of its earlier form. It is something with diverse layers or aspects of layers apparent beneath the surface. This struck a cord with Catherine as this is often her method or process of painting. She adds layer upon layer often scratching back, pealing away or sanding to reveal what was there before. |
