Challenge Nineteen

Our first challenge was from photographer Mario Cerroni
Our next art prompt is from Judi Miller.

"As an embroiderer I have a beautiful collection of threads. New and old, fine and textured, bright and neutral. Even with practice and technique the thread end can be elusive. Relax and breathe, no need for high anxiety."

"High Anxiety"
not embroidered, more collage, silk thread tacked on to a linen base
7"h x 7"w

"Quiet Reflections"
5.25'h x 7.25"w, recycled paper, wallpaper, wire, beach glass, driftwood, stones, china and beads - all on a driftwood recovered from Lake Ontario mounted in a smoked mirror and wood shadow box

The beaches on the shores of Lake Ontario offer a haven of escape from chaos and the noise. Relax your mind.

"Twisted"
16"h x 16"w, acrylic/collage

My first thought was how do I create a piece that doesn’t make the viewer anxious?
I used a long stick and a brush attached so that my strokes were light and fast. At the end I used a huge brush to make the orange blossoms. Orange blossoms have many meanings but one of them is calm. I added the calm so the viewer would have a place to rest while following all the twists and turns.

"A Whirlwind Day"
40"h x 20"w, acrylic on canvas

There are some days when you just have too much to do but in the end you manage it and get pretty much everything done. Being active can bring joy or stress... I choose joy.
